Charity Status Change

We are pleased to announce that on 1st April 2026 our branch changed its legal status from an unincorporated charity to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), with a new charity number of 1215084.  It represents a key step in modernising our governance framework. The important thing is that nothing is changing in what we do or how we do it, and every animal coming in to us will receive the care, attention and second chance that they deserve, just the same as always.  The CIO is now the data controller, although for an interim period, the existing branch and the CIO will co-exist as we work through the process of informing all relevant parties.  If you have used our services before, rest assured your personal data is still protected in exactly the same way; it has simply been transferred over to the new CIO.  Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Meet Poppy: A Gentle Soul Seeking a Patient, Experienced Home

Poppy is a beautiful, sensitive girl with a very cautious approach to the world. We really hope an experienced cat owner will look beyond her fear, respect her boundaries, and see the gentle soul she is slowly starting to reveal.

At four years old, Poppy found herself unwanted by her family and came into our care very shut down and withdrawn. Although she views new places and people with hesitation, slowly and quietly, Poppy has started to make progress on her own terms:

• She now plays with fishing rod toys, has little zoomies, and throws her catnip furry rat all over the place. • She’s inquisitive enough to tentatively explore areas around the home where her fosterers are present. • She accepts gentle strokes when she feels secure, occasionally nudges for more, and softly meows to ask for food. • She loves creamy cat treats and chicken!

These might sound like tiny steps, but they are huge milestones for Poppy. She still retreats to her safe space when overwhelmed, and we can’t promise that she will ever be a lap cat. But earning the quiet trust of a cat like Poppy is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world.

Poppy Will Need:

  • Patience & Understanding: She may spend her first few weeks or months observing from a safe hiding spot. She needs an owner with experience caring for timid felines.
  • Low-Touch, High-Respect: Someone who won’t expect instant results, who recognizes her subtle body language, respecting her boundaries, and understands physical interaction will always be strictly on Poppy’s terms.
  • A Safe Haven: A quiet, calm, adult-only environment (or household with quiet teenagers) where routine is predictable, and with a dedicated “safe room” equipped with cosy hiding spots and her necessities to help her feel secure as she settles in at her own pace.

Poppy has so much quiet dignity and gentle charm to offer the right home. Watching her confidence grow and earning her gentle trust is a privilege. If you have experience with sensitive, nervous cats and the patience to let Poppy just be Poppy, please get in touch!
